Storeys
A storey is a horizontal building level. Each level has its own plan in Plans. The Site workspace is for site evidence and the north angle; add and edit levels from the Plan workspace.
Default storeys
Every new project starts with a Ground level. You do not need to create it manually.
The Stair tool does not create levels silently. When a stair needs an upper level, it opens the same explicit Add Level flow described below. A Terrace is a persisted, non-habitable roof-deck level; it is not an automatically invented stair destination.
Add a storey
How do I add another storey?
- Open Plans and choose the level selector in the Plan header.
- Open Level Actions.
- Choose Add level.
- Select Floor or Roof terrace, enter an optional name, and choose Review level changes.
- Review the affected slabs, parapets, railings, and the roof transition, then choose Apply level. It is added above the current stack only after you apply the review.
- Open the Properties panel and edit Level properties → Name later if needed.
You can also use Duplicate level to copy the current level, or Duplicate from below when that action is available. Those actions are different from adding an empty level.
Navigate between storeys
In Plans, use the level selector in the header to switch the active plan. The active level controls where new walls, rooms, openings, stairs, and other level-specific edits are authored.
Level properties
Select a level and open Properties to review or edit its level settings. The editable fields include Name, Plinth height (Ground storey), and Ceiling height. Slab thickness is governed by the structural slab type configured in the Structure aspect, while Floor-to-floor and FFL are calculated as derived, read-only values.
Why nothing happened
| Symptom | Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| No Add level button | The Level Actions menu is closed or the Plan workspace is not active | Open Plans, then open Level Actions |
| The new level is not visible | The header is still showing another level | Select the new level in the level selector |
| The name did not change | The level name is edited in Properties, not on the header label | Open Properties → Level properties → Name |
| The Add Level review is blocked | The project has a roof/slab relationship that cannot be reconciled safely | Resolve the affected roof, slab, or hosted element, then preview the level again |
