Select tool

Shortcut: Esc Toolbar: Select group

The default tool for navigation and editing. Click to select walls, openings, spaces, stairs, and dimensions. Delete selected entities with the Delete key.

Workflow

  1. Press Esc or click Select in the toolbar.
  2. Click an entity to select it (highlighted).
  3. Click empty canvas to deselect.
  4. Press Delete or Backspace to remove the selected entity.

Delete behaviour

EntityWhat happens
DimensionDeleted immediately
Opening (door, window)Deleted immediately
Wall, space, stairConsequence preview dialog shows impact before deletion

The consequence preview shows what will be affected (e.g. "2 rooms affected, 1 stair removed") so you can decide whether to proceed.

Cancel and reset

  • Esc (no active draft) — deselects the current selection.
  • Esc (active draft) — cancels the draft and returns to Select.
  • Esc (syringe armed) — disarms the match-properties syringe.

Multi-select

Hold Shift while clicking to add entities to the selection. Hold Ctrl to toggle individual entities. Multi-selection is used by Mirror and Match properties.

Contextual toolbar

When one or more entities are selected, a floating toolbar appears above the selection on the canvas. It provides quick access to actions without switching tools.

ActionWhat it does
Mirror selectedSame as pressing F with a selection active — mirrors the selection across an axis you click

More actions will appear here in future releases.

Tips

  • Select is the default tool. After most tool commits (wall drawn, room placed), Jodu switches to Select automatically.
  • Use Select to move entities: click, drag, release.
  • Dimensions and openings delete immediately because they have no downstream impact. Walls, spaces, and stairs trigger a confirmation because they affect other entities.
