Passage tool
Shortcut: P
Toolbar: Openings group
Place a doorless opening in a wall. Unlike Trim, Passage keeps the hosted wall and the wall above the opening.
What does P do?
P arms the Passage tool. It creates a doorless, hosted opening while keeping the wall geometry above it. Use D for a door, N for a window, and Trim's Open passage mode when you are already editing a wall.
Quick placement
- Press P or click Passage.
- Choose a width:
- Door-width: 0.9 m
- Standard: 1.2 m
- Wide: 1.8 m
- Hover over a wall to preview the opening.
- Click to place it.
Dimensions are displayed in the project's active units.
Custom placement
- Choose Custom.
- Click a wall reference point.
- Adjust the width, anchor, and distance from the reference.
- Click Place or press Enter.
Why nothing happened
| Symptom | Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| No preview appears | The pointer is not over a wall | Move over a wall centerline |
| The opening is too wide or narrow | A different preset is selected | Choose Door-width, Standard, Wide, or Custom |
| Custom placement is not committed | The sizing flow is still waiting for confirmation | Choose Place or press Enter |
| You wanted to remove wall geometry | Passage preserves the wall | Use Trim Segment mode instead |
