Window tool
Shortcut: N (wiNdow — not W, which is Wall) Toolbar: Openings group
Place windows on wall centerlines. Uses the same interaction engine as the Door tool with window-specific presets.
Prerequisites
- At least one wall drawn on the active storey.
Quick placement (preset)
- Press N or click Window in the toolbar.
- Hover over a wall — the pointer snaps to endpoints, midpoints, and centerlines.
- Click to place the window with the auto-suggested kind.
Custom placement (sizing panel)
For a specific kind or width:
- Click a snap affordance (endpoint or midpoint) to enter the sizing flow.
- In the panel or HUD, choose a window kind (see table below) and adjust width and distance from reference if needed.
- Press Enter to confirm.
Window kinds

Jodu highlights the most likely kind chip based on the wall span under the pointer. Wide windows require at least 0.3 m clearance on each side from endpoints and other openings; the chip is disabled if there is not enough span.
Snap behaviour
Same as the Door tool — snaps to wall endpoints, midpoints, and centerlines.
Why nothing happened
| Symptom | Cause | Fix |

| No snap on wall | Pointer too far from wall | Move closer to the wall centerline |
| Wide kind chip disabled | Not enough wall span | Move the window away from wall endpoints, or use a narrower kind |
| Click does nothing | No wall under pointer | Draw a wall first |
| Window overlaps existing opening | Another opening is nearby | Delete the old opening or reposition |
Tips
- Auto-kind is usually correct. Override for bathrooms (High fixed) or feature living-room walls (Wide).
- Windows can be moved after placement with the Select tool.
- Delete a window: select it and press Delete (immediate, no confirmation).
