Array tool
Shortcut: none — select Array in the Modify group Toolbar: Modify group
Repeat what you have already drawn: make evenly spaced copies of a selection, either in a line or in a grid.
Prerequisites
- At least one item selected. Array copies a selection — it does not draw anything on its own.
Workflow
- Select the items you want to repeat.
- Choose Array in the Modify group.
- Set the copy spacing.
- Review the proposed copies before applying them.
- Confirm to apply. Press Esc to exit without applying.
Linear and grid arrays
| Array | What you set |
|---|---|
| Linear | A count, and the offset between copies |
| Grid | A column count and a row count |
Use a linear array for a run of repeated elements, and a grid array when copies repeat in two directions.
Why nothing happened
| Symptom | Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| "Select at least one item to array." | Nothing selected | Select the items first, then choose Array |
| "Array blocked. Review conflicts." | The copies would conflict with existing geometry | Review the reported conflicts, then adjust spacing or count |
| Nothing was applied | Exited before confirming | Review the array, then confirm — Esc exits without applying |
