Plan walkthrough

This is a compact, user-facing route through a small two-level house. It is a guided example, not a developer test: use your own dimensions and stop when a diagnostic asks for a decision.

Before you begin

  • Create or open a project.
  • Open Plans and confirm an active level.
  • Choose a structural wall type in Wall options.
  • Have optional plot dimensions ready for Site setup.

Draw the shell

  1. Press W and draw the exterior wall chain. Enter exact lengths such as 9.0 m when the wall input is visible.
  2. Press O, choose Copy wall, and offset a selected wall by 230 mm if your wall construction needs a parallel line.
  3. Press C to close eligible near-miss corners. For a larger gap, press X and choose Extend.
  4. Add partitions with Wall, or use R to place a preset room by dragging.

Add openings and dimensions

  1. Press D or N, hover over a wall, and click to place a door or window.
  2. Press P for a doorless opening; choose a preset or use Custom.
  3. Press M, choose valid wall or opening anchors, and place a dimension.
  4. Turn on the Openings or Warnings overlay from view settings when you need more canvas context.

Add another level and a stair

  1. Open Level Actions → Add level.
  2. Select the new level and edit its name in Properties → Level properties.
  3. Return to the intended level, press T, and click in a suitable room.
  4. Review the guided candidates and press Enter to confirm one.

If the stair flow needs an upper level, it may offer Terrace creation when the project has the required structural slab setup.

Review the model

  • Use Select to inspect entities and resolve consequence previews before destructive deletions.
  • Open Schedules and refresh the Doors, Windows, Rooms, Walls, Stairs, Finishes, Envelope, and Fixtures tabs.
  • Open Quantities and review measured rows, rates, and costing assumptions.
  • Open 3D House and choose Generate 3D House or Update 3D House.
  • Use Sheet to create a drawing set when a composed PDF is required.

Walk through the model

Once the 3D artifact is current, choose Enter home to start Explore at the main entrance.

  1. Pick a room on the minimap, or click open floor in the view, to walk there on a safe route. Doors open as you approach and supported stairs carry you between levels.
  2. Drag to look around while walking; the route keeps going. Use Face route to turn back toward the destination.
  3. Press Pause (or Escape) to stop in place and Resume to continue; a second Escape cancels the journey.
  4. Hold W A S D, the arrow keys, or the pad on the map to walk manually — walls, furniture, and structure block you; open-plan boundaries do not.
  5. If a room reports no safe route, use Jump to … beside it on the minimap to inspect it instantly.
  6. Try Start guided tour for an automatic visit of every reachable room.

If your system prefers reduced motion, walking stays available but slower and without automatic turning; Jump remains instant. See 3D House for the full control list.

If a step fails

Check the active aspect, required selection, and visible panel mode first. The Plan workspace overview links to each tool's “Why nothing happened” table, and Troubleshooting covers cross-tool issues.
