Precision input
Jodu supports exact values where the active tool exposes an input field. Use typed entry for dimensions you know, and use snapping or modifiers when you are aligning geometry visually.
Typed distance entry
When the active tool shows a distance or size field, type a value and press Enter. The field follows the current display-unit setting; an explicit unit suffix removes ambiguity.
4.5 m— four and a half metres230 mm— 230 millimetres0.23 m— the same length as 230 mm
Typed entry is available in the tools that expose it, including:
| Tool | Value |
|---|---|
| Wall (W) | Wall run length while drawing |
| Selected Wall | Overall by default, or the chosen Centerline/face measurement basis |
| Room (R) | Exact width × length in the Room placement panel |
| Offset (O) | Offset distance |
| Dimension (M) | No typed drawing distance; it reads and annotates model geometry |
Do not assume that every tool accepts a typed value. If the active panel does not show an input, place the geometry with the pointer and use the resulting measurement or properties to check it.
Snapping
Snapping is automatic while you move the pointer near useful model, grid, or site geometry. The preview or snap marker shows the target when one is found. There is no global magnet switch to turn snapping on or off.
How do I place a room without snapping?
Hold Ctrl while dragging a room to suppress room, wall, and site snapping for that drag. Release Ctrl to return to normal snapping.
How do I draw an orthogonal wall?
Hold Shift while drawing a wall to constrain its run to an axis. This is an orthogonal drawing constraint; it is not a global snap-off switch.
Corner-close threshold
The Corner close (C) tool works when the relevant wall endpoints are within 0.3 m (300 mm). If the gap is larger, use the Trim tool's Extend mode or draw a connecting wall segment.
